Prong Setting using Saw and Rivet for a Stone or Glass Pendant Workshop

Date: Saturday, March 28, 9am-12pm

Location: East Lapidary Shop

A prong setting workshop teaches you to fabricate and securely set dichroic and stone cabochons using metal "prongs". This workshop will focus on cutting, shaping, and finishing for professional results in pendants, building from basic fabrication to advanced placement. 

No Prerequisites Required except to bring a mask and safety glasses.

Students should bring their own stones or objects.

Materials Fee: $5 (to be paid to teacher at beginning of event)

What You'll Learn:

• Fabrication: Building prong settings by sawing of sheet metal, creating baskets, and shaping prongs.
• Stone Placement: Techniques for setting various stone shapes (round, princess, cabochon, freeform).
• Finishing: Refining prongs for a professional, smooth, and secure finish.
• Tool Mastery: Learning to use and sometimes modify jeweler's tools for efficiency.
