Meeting for the EC Shop Managment Team
Equipment Session: Hydraulic and Quick-Form Presses
When: Wednesday September 9th from 2 to 4 pm
The first Equipment Session spotlights both the Hydraulic and Quick-Form Presses. Two participants will begin with the new Hydraulic Press, while the other two explore the Quick-Form Press and its new metal-stamping attachment. After an hour, groups will switch stations. This two-hour session, limited to four participants, takes place outside regular shop hours for focused, hands-on learning. If the session is full, please join the waitlist so we can offer it again.
The Instructors are Kirk McQuillan and Willie Caldwell.

Pop-Up SimpleConsign Intro / Training
When: Thursday, September 10 at 2:30 pm (2 Hr max)
If you want to see what SimpleConsign involves to decide whether you want to be a Front Monitor, come watch. If you want a refresher or training on SimpleConsign, come to this Pop-Up. You'll perform three transactions: cash, check, and card. You will also learn how to search for items such as a Donation, Materials Fee, Copper Sheet, $10 Punch Card, and Silver Solder. Limited to three people, since all of us need to see the computer screen.

Learn to Solder Workshop

This is an INTERMEDIATE LEVEL Workshop
Required prerequisites to attend:
Learn the Torch (GVR Course) OR previous annealing experience
Students will learn the basics of torch soldering to make jewelry. Begin developing skills and confidence needed to fabricate jewelry from silver and other metals. Wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. Optivizor (magnifier) and tools provided
Closed-toe shoes are required, along with protective clothing.
Materials charge: $50 (to be paid to teacher at beginning of workshop)
Location: East Lapidary Shop
This workshop will occur once a month during most of the year. Each with separate registrations. Click on a future event on the calendar to registrar early. Four students per workshop.

Pop-Up Monitor Training: Back Monitors
September 14 from 2 to 4 pm (2 hours max)
Pop-up training sessions are quick and flexible, designed to help new monitors, address immediate needs, offer quick refreshers, or share timely information — up to three participants at a time. You’re welcome to preview the Monitor Training Checklists in the in the 3-ring binder in the bookshelf. Thank you for brushing up your Monitor skills or stepping up as a new Monitor!

Lost Wax Casting Workshop
Dates: Wednesday, Sept. 16, and Thursday, Sept. 17
Time: 8:30AM-12PM
Registration is required to attend this workshop
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Prerequisites: Learn the Torch class or verified experience
Learn the art of making jewelry from a wax model. Students will learn about the casting process and assist the Cast Master with their casting. As a result of the class, students will understand the basic fundamentals of the lost wax casting process, metal finishing tools and becoming a technicist to complete their takeaway silver pendant, earrings, or ring.
Material Fee: $40 (payable online (preferred) or to instructor)
Location: East Lapidary Studio on Wednesday, East Shop on Thursday
Maximum Number of Students: 4
This workshop will repeat occasionally each season and requires registration. To register for other dates before an announcement goes out to all members, click on another workshop of interest and register.

Sign up for this open-studio workshop once you have taken "Metal Clay Jewelry" or have previous experience using metal clay. Bring your project to life using the studio and club tools with the hands-on instructor.
You may learn how to join clay pieces to add depth to your creation, roll the perfect texture, add a bail, embellish your work with syringe clay, include CZs or dichroic elements, patina, and finish your creations. You may also sign up to observe without a particular project to observe, learn, and be inspired. If you do bring a project, you will need to furnish your own metal clay, embellishments, and findings, such as ear wires and jump rings.

Come to this “Popcorn and a Movie" workshop as a prelude to making forged bracelets and pendants.
If there is interest, we will arrange Open Studio hours for members to work on their projects using our metalsmith equipment. Interested members can get certified to use the club’s specialized equipment (including the hydraulic press, Swanstrom disc/shape dies, and Quick Press.)

Silver Wave Earrings

This is an Intermediate Level Workshop
Required Prerequisite: Learn the Torch
Skills that you will learn:
You will LOVE wearing or gifting these classy sterling earrings.
Larger gauge soft wire can be shaped in many creative ways. Once you learn these basics, you can "go to town!" As they say, "You are limited only to your imagination."
Bring (if you have them) jewelry pliers - chain-nose, flat-nose, and round-nose, and small wire cutters.
Materials Fee: $20 (payment at start of workshop)
